Why Is This Important?
Many of the most common reasons for stalling our business growth have their roots in worry.
Procrastination - We put things off because we worry that we may not do it 'right'. Or we may get criticised or judged by family, ex-colleagues,
Indecisiveness (or impulsive decision making) - We collect so much information because we worry, we don’t know what we are doing. Then we get so overwhelmed with it - it either takes ages to decide, or we plump for an option, just to stop ourselves worrying.
People Pleasing - we have learned to look after others (it's probably a purpose of your business too). We worry that if we don't, people won't invest in us, or they will talk about us behind our backs.
Planning - we like to plan for all eventualities. We have diaries, to-do lists, post-it notes everywhere. Planning isn't bad, but when we are doing it because we worry that we might forget something, we do it excessively.
Inconsistency – We worry that we may have a flare-up. This means we will have to change plans, often at the last minute. So, to stop the guilt, we don’t do all the things we know will take our business forward. This causes us to feel disappointed in ourselves. So, we do more to make up for those times, because we worry people will think we’re lazy, or can’t be trusted to deliver.
Do you relate to any of these? If so, you need to Weed Out Worry!
